Happy - Best Coast

Sorry for the long absence, I've been extremely busy lately. I've caught the flu, so I've been home for the past 3 days doing nothing but watching old episodes of Saved By the Bell. Today will be my 3rd day home, kept from daylight and civilization.

I'll post a playlist soon, before I leave so you readers out there will have something to feast on while I'm gone. As of now, my brain aches and my whole body feels like jelly. I think I've overdosed on Zack and Kelly drama.

I'm sorry for the crappy post, I'll get better.

Piazza, New York Catcher - Belle & Sebastian

Maybe it's a bit too late to make a 911 post, but here I am, making one. I'm not American. I wasn't in America when it happened. I was 4, a mere toddler with no knowledge of anything in the world. I remember the day it happened. It was around day time in Thailand, and I was watching tv with my Grandpa.
At first, I didn't know what it was, and how big an impact it would make. Honestly, I didn't really care. I asked my Grandpa what was going on, and my Grandmother was pacing around the room, worried. At that time, my uncles were living in America, and she called them to make sure they were okay.
I kept asking my Grandpa questions until he started to get irritated at me.
A few years later, I finally realized how big an impact that event was. Of course, none of us actually know what truly happened and the reasoning behind the attack. I've never been to New York before (I'm going there in a few weeks), but I really want to see the remains of the Twin Towers. The people's reactions. 10 years went by, and what has everyone been saying?
I recently finished a book called Love Is The Higher Law by David Levithan. In the book, it explores the aftershock affect of 3 teenagers living in New York City at the time of the attack. These 3 completely different people are brought together because of the event.
One of the main characters almost lost her mother to the accident. But then I thought to myself, what if I witnessed someone lose an important person in their life, or even be the witness myself? How would I react to this day, 10 years later?
10 years went by, and even though much has happened, the universe is still pretty much the same. Barack Obama became President, natural disasters, first Australian Prime Minister, suddenly everyone has iPods, Facebook, Michael Jackson's death, Osama Bin Laden's death, Amy Winehouse's death, swine flu, bird flu, I could just keep on going.
So here I am, across the world from New York. Not knowing, not hearing anything that happened. I could never know how bad it was. The world will never forget.

This isn't a very typical post, but yeah, I'll see you all soon.

King of the Beach - Wavves

tumblr
I'm exhausted, and once again, I'm not entirely sure why. I had a drama exam and a test, then sports right after school. I'm not the biggest sports fan though (I'm only good at 1 sport and that's the only one I actually do). So yeah, sports and I don't have a very strong relationship. I just don't have the magic to do well in any other sports! I thing someone jinxed me at birth, hmm, skeptical.

You should know that I've finally finished my playlist. Even though playlist-making is a long and time consuming process, it is possible to be completed within a short period of 2 days. I only finished it quick because I was in a good mood last night, so here it is,

Youth Tunes
1. King of the Beach - Wavves
2. That's Where You're Wrong - Arctic Monkeys
3. Bicycle - Unknown Mortal Orchestra
4. When'd You Find Me? (Ricky Eat Acid Remix) - Arrange
5. Boyfriend - Best Coast
6. Nothing to Worry About - Peter Bjorn and John
7. Scared But Not That Scared - 1,2,3
8. Half A Person - The Smiths
9. Tree Hugger - Antsy Pants
10. Last Legs - Army Navy
11. No More Running Away - Air Traffic
12. Vapour Trail - Ride

This playlist means quite a lot to me, and I'll probably expand it in the future as I discover new bands (and old ones) but yes, as of now, it's perfect just as it is. The flaws and oddness of this playlist is what makes it deserve the title. So let's live our youth to the fullest, and all that other cheesy quotes I won't even bother to think of. And I'm sorry for the photos - they're a bit random.
ciao

Half A Person - The Smiths

I am in extreme fatigue, and I don't really know what to do right now. School just finished, and I feel so busy - still. Yesterday, I picked up my developed photos. They turned out pretty well, considering half the roll didn't even develop properly and it was a complete waste (that's what happens when you drop your camera on the ground). $8 later and I was bussing back to my laptop and tea.

I have started a new playlist just then, and I think I'll finish it sometime later tonight. My "quiet time" is around 1 am. It's when the room goes silent, and I can hear the wind from outside through my earphones. But then my night would probably end with me singing "Jean" in the toilet and brushing my teeth at 11.

Well the playlist I started making is called "Youth Tunes", and will include songs that give you that deep nostalgic feeling of being young and carefree (even though I still very much am). I just had the urge to make one of those really deep playlists instead of the rather pointless (but still meaningful) ones I have made in the past. I often enjoy inventing soundtracks for books that should be movies - like The Perks Of Being A Wallflower when it was still a book.

I'm so happy because (just yesterday, I think) Rookiemag.com was released! I already love it so much!

The photo from the left is from Rookiemag.com, photographed by Petra Collins. The right is unknown, I found it on tumblr.

Hopefully I'll post the playlist soon!

Kissing The Lipless - The Shins

I am truly, extremely bored. There's absolutely nothing in my mind right now, thus making me have the urges to blog. So here I am, sitting in my room looking out the window in complete silence. I think the weather doubts me. It's cloudy, but there's still sun? What is this?? I'm so bored it's actually ridiculous. Procrastinating, procrastinating. Well anyways, I was looking through my hard drive for old photos. I dug up some good ones! Or at least I think they're good, but they're alright compared to the other photos I took. Looking at these give me a sad nostalgic feeling I'm not supposed to feel. It's probably because it's about to rain and my room is getting very dark.
Well I guess I should share it with you all, along with a caption and maybe a song (this sounds totally corny, doesn't it?). Well here goes!

Okay well I took this in a little alleyway in the City around a month ago. It's actually my favorite place in the world. It's so cute and happy, and it's got this warm vibe in it, I don't even...I don't know. It's so cosy! Anyways, I was in a really bad mood that very day so I just kept walking with my friend to this alleyway and bam! All the hatred and anger I had just went away to somewhere safe no one would be able to find.
Tanktop - Caroline Smith & The Goodnight Sleeps
(this song is from a BIRP! playlist, check it out, their playlists are ALWAYS good)

This one was taken sometime last year. That day, me and my roommates decided to go out and take pictures on the lawn since it was such a nice day! So yes, we went out and took some pretty memorable and embarrassing photos of ourselves. Nevertheless, it was a lovely afternoon! Back then, I wasn't into music as much as I am right now, so yes call me mainstream if you want to.
Angus & Julia Stone - Private Lawns

This was so long ago I don't actually remember taking this. Well it's a pretty decent photo considering my amateur skills. I'm not sure where I was, but I'm pretty sure it was taken from inside a car or a van or a bus or a vehicle of some sort. Isn't it perfect though? If I could go back in time, I would've jumped down from the car and jaywalked my way into that lovely place.
I don't think there would be a song to describe this photo.

I remember that day very clearly. It was with 2 friends (1 whom I am currently not friends with any longer, but yes, I should put the past behind me), and we were working on a History project. The day turned out to be a complete waste of time, as we ended up doing nothing but running around and taking photos. These daisies were pretty, and we started picking a pile out and just threw them around the backyard. Good times.
Waste - Foster the People

Okay, this is the last one. It was on a school event at Puffing Billy. It was a really nice day, considering the fact that I thought it was going to be VERY lame and boring and childish (I often underestimate the power of persuasion). It was great! We even crossed paths with Percy the Small Engine. Actually, I only took this photo to show it to my little sister who was the biggest Thomas fan.
Spirit Flows - Triptides

Well this is probably the first and only time I will post my own pictures, unless I feel like doing so again in the future. I'll probably do a song or an album review next week or so, so be excited! Anyways, I'm going to go make tea and study now, ciao!

The Only Boy Living In New York - Simon and Garfunkel

I honestly don't really know what to do right now. I should be studying, but I just don't feel like it. I think I have finally mastered the art of procrastinating. I just feel like making a blog post right now. No one would know how much I want to visit New York. Anyways, this was made at 2 am in the morning, so just ignore the weird bits and pieces that don't really belong there. And just a warning, there's a fair bit of The Smiths included, probably because I have a wide collection of them on my iTunes.

The Day I Move To New York!
1. 1901 - Phoenix
2. Young Folks - Peter Bjorn and John
3. This Charming Man - The Smiths
4. Piazza, New York Catcher - Belle & Sebastian
